Discover the Enneagram (Series – Online)
April 21 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am EDTFree
The Enneagram is one of the most powerful and insightful tools for understanding ourselves and others. It is a personality system that describes nine distinct ways of thinking, feeling and acting in the world. At its core, the Enneagram helps us to see ourselves at a deeper, more objective level and can be of invaluable assistance on our path to self-knowledge (for instance, by showing us our blocks and patterns). This three-session series (April 7, 14, and 21) will give you a broad overview of the Enneagram system and the opportunity to determine which of the nine Enneatypes you resonate with most. In the first session, we will go over the three centers of intelligence and touch upon the nine types and where they place their focus of attention, as well as their strengths and challenges. You will leave with a better understanding of how the Enneagram works and how it can benefit you and your relationships.
In subsequent sessions, we will dive a little deeper and address the wings, levels of development, and the directions of integration (growth) and disintegration (stress) for each type. These sessions are designed to cultivate understanding of how the Enneagram is not about keeping you in your traps or locking you into certain patterns. Rather, it is an amazing tool for freedom from the box of personality and shifting out of that and into our greater essence: who we become when we are able to free ourselves from our negative patterns and blocks. We will also explore stress reduction approaches for the various types and other applications that are of interest to participants.
We will use the book, The Essential Enneagram: The Definitive Personality Test and Self-discovery Guide, by David N. Daniels and Virginia A. Price, which contains additional information about the Enneagram types and a self test to help you identify your Enneatype. Multiple copies of this book are available to borrow at the Saratoga Springs Public Library.
