Artist Statement

When I am in nature, certain images stop me in my tracks, and at the time I don’t know why I am so drawn to them but sense they are part of a greater story, language, pattern, or blueprint that connects us all. I believe that if we look closely enough from the right angle, we always can find something to appreciate about a place or living thing – and perhaps gain insight into our own nature, as well. There have been many winter mornings when I’ve been so in awe of the silent, frozen world around me that I didn’t even notice the bitter cold. During the shorter, darker days, you might have to open your senses more fully to discover a magical moment. It’s like going on a treasure hunt. You might find it in a frosty landscape or hidden in small, crystalline details. Beauty is everywhere, waiting to be noticed by eyes that can see!
